WHAT MAINTENANCE IS REQUIRED FOR THE FOUNTAINS?
Beyond filling the reservoir with water as needed, we carry two products we recommend adding to your fountains water, FOUNTEC and PROTEC. Both are non-toxic and help reduce any algae and hard water deposits in your fountain.

CAN I RUN MY FOUNTAIN DURING THE WINTER?
Yes, due to the 12-18 inch depth of most fountain reservoirs, even in a hard freeze you will get a couple of inches of ice on the surface of your underground reservoir but your submersible pump will continue to operate. Be sure to top off your reservoir on a regular basis to ensure that the water surface does not get too close to your pump. You will get beautiful ice formations on the exterior of your fountain. You do not have to worry about the cold temperature harming your Stone Forest fountain due to the fact that the stone we hand craft our fountains from is so dense (Granite, Basalt or Serpentine), water is not able to leech into the stone and freeze, which is the common problem with most fountains made from less durable materials.

WHAT KIND OF STONE DO YOU USE TO CARVE THE FOUNTAINS?We use three primary types of stone to carve our fountains, granite, basalt or serpentine. All three of these stones are very dense and thus very durable, allowing us to guarantee our fountains for life under normal running conditions.
WHO CAN I GET TO DO THE INSTALLATION?Any landscape architect or contractor should have the experience needed to install a fountain. We can provide installation diagrams or any technical advice necessary upon request.
HOW WILL I KNOW WHEN TO ADD WATER TO MY FOUNTAIN?When a reservoir runs low on water the pump will begin to draw a little air causing small bubbles to show up at the top of your fountain, when you see these small bubbles it is time to add water to your reservoir.
WHAT DO I NEED IF I WANT TO DO THE INSTALLATION MYSELF?
There are many different ways to install any water feature, here is a standard example. You will need to get a couple of fountain accessories to do an installation yourself, a pump, a 4-6 ft. length of garden hose (1/2 inch or 5/8 inch depending on pump size), a pond liner, several bags of beach pebbles, a bag or two of ready mix concrete, some hardware cloth and several lengths of aluminum conduit. Begin by digging your reservoir (aprox. 4 ft. in diameter, 12-18 inches deep), and then pour your concrete pedestal. Cover this with the pond liner and then place hardware cloth, supported by aluminum conduit so it can support weight, over entire reservoir. Place stone on pedestal with waterline attached for easy connection to your pump. Then simply hide the entire reservoir apparatus with beach pebbles or other medium. It is a good idea to cut a small trap door into the hardware cloth above your pump for easy access.
