The Oribe lantern is one of the oldest Japanese stone lantern designs and was named for tea master Furuta Oribe (also known as Furuta Shigenari). Oribe is credited for his influence in shaping the garden into a space for tea ceremonies. Simple and elegant, this ikekomi-gata style stone lantern (post lantern) is installed by burying the base of the post directly in the ground or a concrete footing. We carve this popular Japanese stone lantern in the finest quality black and white granite and it comes drilled for electrical wiring, or can be lit with a candle or oil lamp. Comprised of five pieces.
